Buy all the items and get this year's limited T5 skin,.1.7 - RagnorokThe end of the Odyssey culminated in.HADES ALL ALONG. HOOK, LINE, AND SINKER. Or something along those lines. Whatever, here's another promotion that costs 750 gem per 'key' to unlock special chests. Three keys gets you a limited Hades skin.1.8 - Who cares about promotions/events/skins! What's new with the game?Honestly not much compared to the changes going into Season 3.
For a quick overview, check out the Dev Talk video. For more information, check out or.The general idea is to open up starting options and roles. The intent of Season 4 is to have gods viable in multiple roles instead of being sort of locked into only one or two roles. Also, gently caress healers apparently.2.0 - Game Mode Changes. HiRez posted: Last year, we experimented with new game modes like Fafnir’s Wonderland and Xing Tian’s Mountain. After the amazing positive reaction to these fun and unique modes, we wanted to keep introducing new experiences to players that go beyond the standard modes. Every 6 weeks, there will be a new Adventure that players can participate in that will introduce very new and unique experiences for a limited time.
2.0.1 - Nike's Valley of Victory (2/28 - 3/28), the first being, a 5v5 capture-the-flag styled mode. Take the enemy flag and swap out your abilities with 'flag carrier' abilities. The mode is free to play, but if you pay 700 gems (during the promotion only, after which it becomes 1000 gems) you get a reward bundle that includes new limited/exclusive skins, a music theme, and global emote. Complete quests tied to the event to 'upgrade' your global emote (more particle effects). Read more on the.One drawback is if you don't purchase the 700 bundle, there's no reward for playing other than achievement points and bragging rights for placement on leaderboards2.0.2 - Apollo's Racer Rumble (4/11 - 5/9)Next Smite Adventure: Mario Kart comes to Smite. The mode is free to play but you don't get any rewards unless you purchase the bundle (900 gems during the promotion, otherwise 1000 gems for just the bundle in the future). The bundle includes an Apollo skin, music theme, pedestal, ward, and a gold key to unlock exclusive/limited skins in the 'Gold Vault.' Join the queue with up to 5 people and get put into an 8-man free-for-all racing game.
You're awarded points depending on your placement at the end of the game, which go towards a 'lap rewards' promotion (only available if you purchase the bundle) which includes pedestal upgrades and other rewards (chests, favor).Once again this promotion does not reward you with anything unless you purchase the bundle.2.0.3 - Trials of King Hercules (6/7 - 7/19?)MMORPG grinding comes to Smite! A 3-man queue where you pick 70+ gods and start at level 20 with no items. Kill mobs, get drops, and unlock other dungeons to play (4 total). Grind some more, complete quests, get loot, beat bosses, get even better loot, and unlock actual Smite chests for chance to win skins.
Also there's a speed-running leaderboardThe bundle costs 900 gems during the promotion and comes with a limited Herc skin, 'dungeon' stamp, dungeon frame, dungeon theme, and gold key to unlock another limited skin. If you don't pay, you can grind out a chance to get a Smite chest.2.0.4 - Corrupted Arena (8/16 - 9/20?)Arena has exploded and there's a bunch of holes that opened up in the ground. Fall in and die. Throw people in, and they die. Also stuff falls down and squishes you and there's a dragon?
Similar to other adventures, this comes with a bundle promotion (gold key, etc).2.0.5 - Shadows over Hercopolis, basically.2.1 - League Changesvideo on league changes. The general idea is:. Hard reset at the beginning of the season (everyone starts at the same MMR value). A soft reset that follows the SPL splits. PROMOTION GAMES ARE loving GONE, THANK GOD ie- if you win a game with 108 points, you automatically jump to next division with 8 points. You're protected from being immediately demoted if you've recently been promoted 'for a few games'. One pause per team is allowed (requires team vote).
Once passed, pause occurs once everyone is out of combat. God Leaderboards: leaderboards based on and sorted by specific gods (see how your Loki ranks compared to other Loki poo poo lords). 3.0 - Map ChangesThe Conquest map is pretty much staying the same with the addition of a few things:. Entire jungle now spawns at 1:30, when the first wave of minions 'hit' in lane.
This is an attempt to create more 'openings'. The addition of 'mini-bosses' that spawn a ward at the Gold Fury, or a one-way teleport at the Fire Giant. Slight modifications to 'even out' the Chaos vs.
Order side (highlighted in red in the above map image). 'Duo boars' have been replaced by a purple buff that creates a -10 protection debuff aura that affects enemy gods 3.1 - ClashThe artwork of Clash is getting completely rehauled into an Egyptian theme. There's also a few changes to the map:. The Gold Fury and Fire Giant are gone; replaced by Apophis, a serpent 'mini-boss', that replaces the central red buff at 10 minutes. Phoenixes are replaced by statues that shoot sustained laser damage that builds up over time (instead of firing periodic volley shots). There's an extra opening in the 'back jungle' that leads into mid.
The 'back harpies' are replaced by a second blue buff 4.0 - Relic ChangesRelics from Season 3 return but can now be upgraded for 500 gold at any time (you still get a free 'base' relic at level 1 and 12). For the latter, start at a buff to prevent an invade and clear under your tower until you can get pressure relief from a rotation.' SWC' meta is support+mage in mid, jungler+solo in solo, and hunter in duo lane (except if you're against a heavy early pressure boxing god like Ullr in which case the support needs to help). Duo lane has basically become a duel lane.Outclear your lane then either.
invade enemy buff (or kill their 'minies' at 1-2 buff camps). clear fire elementals. clear 'oracle' gold furies. clear midThe goal is to outclear your opponent during the first wave in order to claim as much farm in the jungle as possible.
This allows you to maintain level advantage throughout the entire game (SNOWBALL).As of the, the 'neutral' camps have more health and less exp making them less valuable. The intent is to make games less snowbally.1.2 - Current 'Top Tier' PicksEarly game is important again, with emphasis on gods with good clear at level 1+2. This is due to fights starting in lane at level 1 instead of 2-3 as with previous seasons.
This includes things like sharing banners, map layouts, or event timelines for specific challenges (e.g. Maritime kingdom game layouts 2016. Beat 5 boss waves in a row).
compiled by reddit community, not by any pros1.3 - Current Opening Builds/StratsBumba's now gives bonus to the carrier of the mask as long as they are closest to the minion killed, regardless of who got the last hit. Almost all roles are picking this up as a secondary starter item to help with jungle clear.HoG got nerfed, and the jungle spawns later; so the super heavy jungle invade starts at the end of Season 3 are dead. However, you still need to claim and steal the jungle from the enemy team so take as much as you can once you clear you first lane wave. When in doubt for an active: pick up shell, beads, or aegis.1.3.1 - JunglersBumba's will still be mandatory on junglers, but buying Bumba' plus Rangda's at the opening is not recommended because you can't get boots and lose out on some good opening stats from other items (boots). Rangda should get picked up by junglers on the first back if you're snowballing (do not get if you fall behind), and not really on support unless they plan to rotate and gank a lot. It shouldn't be picked up by any other roles (except for maybe aggressive roaming support) because you tend to stay in lane.01.31.17 - Mask's. Physicals:.
Bumba's into Death's toll with potions (preferred build) for most assassin/warriors: sustain from Death's Toll is just too good. Especially good on gods that cleave (Thanatos/Ratotaskr).
Bumba's + Bluestone only on some heavy ability junglers that can harass and out-poke easily (Bastet, most warriors). Bumba's + boots + potions (standard vanilla 'safe' opening due to having movement speed. There's a new Smite Tactics patch live. Quote: 'We made a decision this week to put Smite Rivals on hold. While we are still excited by the general concept of Smite Rivals, it was clear after early testing that the game needs significant additional development before releasing. With Smite Tactics, our turn-based strategy game set in the Smite Universe, performing well, we have decided to focus our energies on that for the time being.' There's no word on when work on Smite Rivals might resume, but if you're feeling optimistic you can, for now at least, still sign up for the beta (or just poke around to see what it's all about) at smiterivals.com. 1.0 - IntroductionThis game is current in and as such is subject to drastic changes and/or overhauls.
As of now it looks like a PVP (1v1) game with a deck-building mechanic. Choose cards/gods, get matched up against someone, and play the typical MOBA 3-lane layout against an opponent. Draw cards, drop down gods/abilities/minions(?), push lanes, destroy the enemy base. Currently planned for release on PC and tablets.Nothing much to note now as the game is most likely under a NDA for anyone lucky enough to get in.Look forward to cross-promotional things in the future: most likely some kind of founders pack that unlocks Smite rewards, or some kind of milestone that unlocks Smite cutesy avatars.2.0 - ResourceIII. 1.0 - Introduction. 2.0 - Smite Rewards1.0 - IntroductionNow available (free to play) for Apple and Android devices. This game isn't a Smite spin-off, but since you can get Smite-related rewards for playing it, we'll discuss it briefly here. This section won't go into much detail except for what you need to do to get Smite stuff.
Anyone interested in adding a guide or more information is encouraged to do so, and I'll quote it here.1.1 - GameplaySwipe in the direction you want your character to go and make her dash. Dashing through enemies attacks them and adds a 'combo' counter which continues to stack throughout the level, unless you're damaged which resets the counter to zero. End the level with a high combo counter to unlock rewards (coins, equipment, crafting materials).
Each level typically lasts 30 seconds+- and you're rewarded if you finish the level quickly.Beat progressively more difficult levels, destroy enemy robots, level up, get equipment, unlock abilities and heroes, play the leaderboards and compete against other people! The game is free to play and there are no in-game ads. The game requires an internet connection (to connect to HiRez servers) and a somewhat beefy tablet or phone (older models may have trouble loading or playing the game). Support the game/company by purchasing in-game currency to buy equipment and extras (voice-packs, 'pets').2.0 - Smite RewardsUnlock the Nemesis Leona skin by beating level 48 and purchasing Leona for 5,000 gold coins.
Once you unlock Leona, you'll get a Smite code which you'll need to claim in Smite.cyclonic fucked around with this message at 00:29 on Mar 17, 2017Jan 25, 2017 00:00.Tsurupettan Mar 26, 2011My many CoX, always poised, always ready, always willing to thrust. This game is pretty good and less of a poo poo show than other mobas. To warrant a separate thread, but people can discuss it here; I assume people will just want to know what free promotion stuff they can get. I haven't had a chance to grab the Leona Nemesis skin yet because JPF was only available on Apple products at first, but I think it's available on Android now. The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering! The celtic board quests to Win 4 games as X really should be the ones awarding enigma chests, for the time and effort involved.Newbie arena solo queue continues to be fun and strange. My current quest is for norse pantheon.
First game was a very close loss where my Freya fed a bit too much. I'd flank and kill a mage or hunter then find the other 4 enemies converging on me as my all range poking team decided to backpedal to our side of the map leaving me alone. I need to work on map awareness. Second game three people instalocked Ullr, Freya and Odin. I went Tyr, and our 5th got bullied into picking a norse character to fit with our theme and finally went Thor just as time ran out.
We lost horribly. I had no idea how to use Tyr. I need to practice versus AI or watch some vids or something, his charge and melee arc didn't react like the abilities I am used to from other gods. The other team had an x-balanque (?) just slaughter us. I got to hear all the callouts as he got up to something like 23 kills without dying, though at least I did finally learn to hold still at the tail end of his darkness ult.The next 2 games went much better as I rolled with Ymir and just stuck with the team supporting everyone.
Having played Overwatch I used the walls to divide the enemy team, cut off retreats, block pursuers letting our wounded get away, and only once or twice accidentally denied a teammate a kill. His frost breath stun was great for getting first kills and picks.
His ult was hard to hit anyone with but great for area denial as they would always retreat out of it. I did land an awesome one once. Odin and Bellona leapt in on a clump of us and both ulted, so I dropped my own ult during their arrival figuring they would be too busy to notice and it hit 4 enemies killing 2 of them. Another highlight was walking back after a team fight to go heal up.
Loki jumped on me out of nowhere and I was able to just turn, frost breath him, spike him, then finish him off with a club swing. I almost felt bad for him. I think someone near the end of last thread recommended Ymir, so props for that.I know everyone's playstyle is different but my suggestions for new players in Arena lazily using auto-item and wanting decent gods that can contribute in most situations and protect themselves as well are Neith, Ymir, Amaterasu and Geb. Or are his bread and butter. You basically use his 1 in assault stance to push people back, and his 2 in defense stance to heal up. Put one point in the ult - you use it for mobility more than the damage. He's real fun to play, and I like to play him more like an assaassin because of how slippery he can be.Jan 26, 2017 23:59.Nucular Carmul Jan 26, 2005Melongenidae incantatrix.

I think someone near the end of last thread recommended Ymir, so props for that. One of the first Guardians in the game, and still one of the best. And yeah, his Ultimate is mostly useful for area denial; the only reliable way to get kills with it is to strategically combine with someones ult. Long ago, Ymir and Cupid were briefly a popular lane pairing for just this reason. That said, don't be afraid to just loving use it for area denial, or even occasionally clearing waves if your ADC is back at base.
People will bitch that you wasted it, but would you rather use it 20 times over a match, or 5 times?Jan 27, 2017 17:11.cyclonic Dec 15, 2005I've played a little bit of Ymir on PTS and by god I miss him. I don't touch my diamond gods anymore, but I think he's going to come back briefly for early Season 4.
Level 1-3 clear is important and Ymir has some of the best early scaling on guardians.I don't understand why he never really sees any action in the SPL games; for some reason NA teams hate him.I figure he's at least a sleeper pocket pick.Jan 27, 2017 17:33.Lastgirl Sep 7, 1997. Teach me how to play skadi so i can justify buying doge meme skinthis isn't an ironic post.Skadi is a mid-to-late game hunter that kind of has a little bit of this and that so she can be a bit odd at first. The one thing that's important to know is that she virtually has no escape other than to ice rink her opponents which is dodgy at best as an escape, because it's not meant to be used as an escape. Not even her ult can save you as an escape reliably because it doesn't cleanse poo poo. It roots initially and then slows with DoT.I know this too well because without Kaldr she's extremely vulnerable, as I've had a few bugs with Kaldr absent for her ult.Like don't even bother thinking about escaping with Skadi, she's meant to be played safely and incredibly patiently with Kaldr and then go ALL in in a moment of forced error and if you commit you better land those autos. Every ability she has is virtually a utility. Her autos are more important.
Her utilities look flashy so they look like they might do something but they hardly deal damage. They're all utility. If you have to escape as Skadi, you hosed up this basic principle of playing her.
Disengaging is not the same however, so don't confuse this for being able to split push duo and sprinting away before the enemy shows up in the lane. Her one, Ice Spear is a slow with moderate damage, you use that to clear waves. Her one is good for a moderate poke or a finisher if you can land it as a snipe on dying opponents, challenging to do so if you're starting out, use it as a utility first. It slows so you can reliably use her autos to kill them in combination (and bonus damage with Kaldr nipping at their heels) because if they're slowed it makes it much easier to hit them right? Her one goes through everything so you can line them up on multiple gods in a group fight to set them up for your team as well as they get slowed down briefly. Her ice rink is a disruption ability and gives her a small movement boost if she's on it, its better at higher levels because the aoe is bigger. I max it second because it helps clear waves as well since her 1 has a pretty drat high cooldown. Which is why every ability is kind of utility because of the cooldown rate.
You should use her rink in several ways.I'd have to ask cyclonic here really what her ice rink is, it's a hard CC probably but unpredictable. It's probably her singular defining skill arguably, not Kaldr because when done right it1) Disrupts an incoming opponent and force them to slide out of position where they're turbofucked and dogpiled by a decent team that follows up. A really good Skadi can force them out under their tower if they're trying to defend it.2) Is Area Denial in choke points to aggressive laners or jungles.3) Can be thrown it under your feet as you close in under an opponent so you can juke effectively and prevent them from coming too close to you as it gives you movement bonus.4) Prevents escapes as you can 'skate' through it and cut them off.Your best bet of using ice rink successfully is anticipation.
You should play Skadi extremely patiently and wait for them to initiate or move into an out of position spot where you can exploit them for overextending and punish them. It can be unpredictable though, enemies tend to move in a direction split second as you deploy it so it may not be the direction you anticipated.Practice her 1 and her ice rinking and autos first imo. Just focus on that.Kaldr is the last thing you should focus on if you're starting out and even as you level her. Kaldr should be maxed last. Arguably you could max in between Kaldr but thats if you already have an idea with Skadi and want to play more aggressively in which you know how to toggle and keep Kaldr alive for auto'ing. This takes practice to toggle him. You're a bad Skadi player if you just toggle him to attack once and then once he gets hit 5 times he's out.
You effectively lose a chance to punish an escaping god with a Kaldr dash and auto if he's clocked out.Kaldr is like an incredibly important extension of Skadi. Like he can do things where Skadi can't because she's pretty squishy and can frontline for her briefly.
Also he's good for positioning the ult because you both share it and makes it the reason why Skadi can be difficult to play at first. He's situational and knowing where and when to use Kaldr the best makes your Skadi gameplay change instantly. He's the utility that can make you more offensive rather than defensive when you do it right which is why I suggest learning how to counter play as skadi more first because that's her strong suit.Think of Skadi as like a trapper kind of Hunter. If you can counter-punish low health gods that overcommit, her ult can really ruin their day. She basically can mop up teams and pick them off with Kaldr especially if they break and start to scatter, you can deny them their escape if you time it right. That's why you want to use her basic attacks first to wear em out and then get them in your icy grip. She shines really well as a disruptor and being a pain in the rear end. Your job is to be as inopportune as possible to the enemy team.Lastgirl fucked around with this message at 18:24 on Jan 27, 2017Jan 27, 2017 18:02.Tsurupettan Mar 26, 2011My many CoX, always poised, always ready, always willing to thrust. Thanks a ton for that!Jan 27, 2017 18:23.bagrada Aug 4, 2007. Also he's good for positioning the ult because you both share it and makes it the reason why Skadi can be difficult to play at first.Great writeup and wow yeah I missed this the handful of times I've played her in arena.
Also thanks Cyc for the Tyr and Ymir tips. One of these days I'll take off the autoitem training wheels and hop in the goon clan.Jan 27, 2017 19:44.cyclonic Dec 15, 2005Looks like Season 4 won't be live until at least Wednesday (2/1/17):Jan 30, 2017 16:15.Lastgirl Sep 7, 1997. Also thanks Cyc for the Tyr and Ymir tips. One of these days I'll take off the autoitem training wheels and hop in the goon clan.No problem, it might not be entirely accurate but that's mostly from experience and some people may play her a bit differently which is fine but I think it's good for starting outYa the way to use her ult sometimes, not always but sometimes is to attack with Kaldr.
Once you see Kaldr dash at is right at the target, you can activate the ult and root them with Kaldr himself. Both of you will have it going p much. Quote:It’s raining Gems!
From Friday February 3rd through Sunday February 5th, earn 30 Gems for completing 3 First Wins of the Day on PC and Console! That means you can earn up to 30 Gems EACH day, totaling 90 Gems!On a somewhat related note, there's speculation that Season 4's SPL ticket will be 400 gems per split (3 splits so 1200 gems total for the whole year; Season 3 was 450 gems for the whole year).I can't find any official statement from HiRez or where people dug this up, but people are up in arms about it being so high this year. A couple things to note: I am not sure, but I believe paying for at least one split gives you an exclusive Nemesis skin, and all you're paying for with the additional splits is a bonus FP package and the ability to vote on the SPL games to gain even more FP; you still get FP from playing games even without buying into the second/third splits. Also - there could be some kind of package deal of some sorts with extra bonuses (ie-buy all 3 splits up front, get X rewards).Whatever the promotion ends up being, people tend to forget that HiRez gives out free poo poo all the time. I personally have 1000+ gems collected from just watching streams and logging in.Anyways, people gotta stop getting so worked up about squeezing blood out of a free rock.Jan 31, 2017 17:31.beaner69 Sep 12, 2009^ I'm pretty sure they said it in the patch notes but I'm not about to rewatch a 3 hours video.Jan 31, 2017 20:30.AdbotADBOT LOVES YOU. Apr 23, 2020 11:31.cyclonic Dec 15, 2005He's predicting a heavy early aggression meta.He might be biased (for not really playing support) but for some reason he doesn't think we'll see many guardians except those that can help with early invade/ganks.
Placed Ares in A+ tier for that reason, even though I think his clear is complete garbage and he's going to sit in A-/B+ tier.I think early in the Season it's going to be a poo poo show with the early invasions and snowballing. Gimmick comps are going to work because people are not used to fighting at level 1.I guess in that sense, Weak3n might be right if games don't make it to late game - guardians are never going to 'come online.' ADCs meanwhile will be able to since they can get two Ichaivals straight into Qin's/crit.Feb 1, 2017 00:50.
The Clash Royale-like spin-off for Hi-Rez’s MOBA title Smite has been put on hold.
Smite Rivals only made its first public appearance in January at the Hi-Rex Expo. It stuck pretty close to the successful Clash Royale model, with players creating decks of characters, all of whom came from the main Smite game. These cards could then be ‘played’ on the battlefield.
However, Kotaku received word from a source close to the company that an associated third party developer working on the game had been yanked from the project, and that there were currently no plans to draft in another partner or bring development in-house.
Hi-Rez later confirmed the news:
We made a decision this week to put Smite Rivals on hold,” it said. While we are still excited by the general concept of Smite Rivals, it was clear after early testing that the game needed significant additional development before releasing. With Smite Tactics, our turn-based strategy game set in the Smite Universe, performing well, we have decided to focus our energies on that for the time being.”
The reaction on Twitter was one of mild disappointment, with a few folks grumbling about the availability of the Loki skin that had previously been touted for Smite players. Others seem to hope that the decision might result in more resources being pumped into Smite proper.
One person even claimed Smite Rivals was their most anticipated game of 2017, which is quite the thing.
Smite released on PC in 2014. It made the jump to Xbox One the following year, and PS4 the year later. It already has one spin-off, Smite Tactics, which is currently in beta. Gamers can pay to access it at the moment, or wait instead for the full release at some stage down the line.
I know fans are looking forward to it, but we have decided to put @SmiteRivals on hold for the time being. Full statement below. pic.twitter.com/my3uwE10y1
